A soul music singing prodigy in the Spencer Davis Group -- his legend was formed by age 16, with "Gimme Some Lovin'" and "I'm a Man". Played organ on Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Child", and formed a one-off group with Eric Clapton. Left SDG in 1967 (along with roadie Dave Mason) to form Traffic, quintessential British rock. Joined Clapton in Blind Faith; returned again (and again) to Traffic. He also had stints in Stomu Yamashta's Go and on Marianne Faithfull's Broken English.
