It happened at the dentist's office. I go in for my biannual cleaning and everything's cool. The hygenist is cleaning my teeth. Then I get informed that my gums are slightly inflammed and that I should get in the habit of brushing my gums. Otherwise, I am in danger of getting gum disease.

What? I've always been a dentist's pet kinda girl. I brush my teeth, they're white and purty, what's the problem?

Then I realized that I wasn't a kid anymore. Gone are the days when I went in for the checkup, was told that I didn't have any cavities, and given a sticker and a sugar-free lollipop. I miss those days, I miss the innocence.

Welcome to adulthood. Enjoy the gum disease.
