ENERGY CRISIS

There is worldwide energy crisis occuring as I node. I feel guilty, using this computer, but at least I'm not wasting energy (I'm noding, after all). There is currently a lack of natural gas, oil, and petroleum (though there may not be much difference in the last two). This has caused energy prices to soar, but less energy is being produced. OPEC has decided to reduce it's output even more.

Regular people are being affected. Energy bills are rising. However, if everybody reduced their energy usage by 1% per month, we could all make a significant difference. Here are some suggestions to reduce energy:

  • Don't run energy guzzlers between 9 AM and 6 PM. These include your dryer, your oven, your heater, and others. Computers are not energy guzzlers, however, if a thousand computers are on, it's like a thousand lights.
  • Be sure to use fluorescent lights at home, but only in places where the light is on often. Turning a flourescent light on and off takes too much energy.
  • Here's an extremely obvious one: switch off lights you're not using. This saves on lighting and cooling costs.

The rise in energy bills may trigger high inflation rates. This will definitely cause problems. So, try and save energy, and help us all.

After going over my math, I see that flourescent lights are more efficient. Use them.
