The author, a

anthropologist, feels that science no longer holds any
absolute truths. According to the author, the old distinction between
natural and
supernatural has become meaningless.
This natural history of the supernatural is designed to extend the traditional five senses into areas were others have been operating undercover. As man uses up the the resources of the world, he's going to have to rely more and more on his own traditional senses, which are, at the moment concealed in the
occult, a word that simply means secret knowledge.
In his book, Dr. Watson writes about cosmic law and order, man and the cosmos, the physics of life,
brain waves, mind over matter,
psychokinesis, will power, the
aura, eyeless sight,
psychometry,
alchemy,
palmistry,
graphology,
phrenology,

Biology has given rise to a new discipline--exobiology. Exobiology is the study of extraterrestrial life. Ever since 1959 when analysis of a piece of
meteor substance showed traces of organic compounds, a controversy has raged as to whether these compounds came into the Earth's atmosphere with the meteorite or whether they originated here on Earth.
Dr. Watson points out that if only one in 100,000 stars has intelligent lifeforms, then there can be as many as one million intelligent life forms in the
Milky Way Galaxy alone.
When this book was first published, it created quite a stir. During the 1970s, very little was actually known about
alien abductions.
