(see also electoral system) Voting systems are methods of voting, of which there are more than one might think. In addition to first past the post, which is what is used in many places in the world (U.S. and Great Britain being two examples), there's Proportional Representation, single transferable vote (a.k.a. Instant Runoff), Approval Voting and many pairwise methods such as those designed by Condorcet, Copeland, and Dodgson (a.k.a. Lewis Carroll).
