"An R.E.M. Companion." A non-fiction, encyclopedic account of the Athens, Georgia rock band. Authored by Marcus Gray.

The book is a fine collection of the band's history, song inspirations, covers, and analysis of some of R.E.M.'s most befuddling lyrics. The book cannot be read cover to cover easily. Full lyrics to the songs are also not included. However, Gray adds his extensive knowledge of the quartet without coming across as overly awed. Frequent quotations and Gray's sense of humor keep the book interesting and meaningful. Now in its second edition.
