Third play in Alfred Jarry's Ubu cycle, translated as "Ubu Enchained".

The plot of this play conforms to more (twisted) logic than the other two, but still contains the expected quota of shambolic violence and chaos. Ma and Pa Ubu arrive in France, the land of free men, where the army struggles to avoid marching in time with one another.

Ubu decides that he has had enough of ruthlessly seeking power, and decides to become a slave. He thrusts himself into the service of various important personages with his usual fervour, resulting of course in bloody death. He is sent to prison, much to his delight, only to be pronounced king once again by his fellow convicts, who see his many chains and ankle weights as ceremonial trappings.
