This might be a bit easier, and it's the only way to get rid of some items under Windows NT:

  1. Right Click on the Start button itself.
  2. If you're under NT, and your program appears no matter which user is logged in, it may be part of the All Users profile. (Chances are, it probably is.)
  3. Navigate through the folders until you find your program
  4. Left Click on it once
  5. On your keyboard, hit your "Delete" key.

Simple. While you're in there, you might want to organize things into subfolders. That's the advantage to this method, it opens it up in Windows Explorer mode.
