The mature wing of DC Comics.

Under the auspices of Karen Potter, Vertigo has managed to be the last bastion of innovation for DC. Part of the reasons for that has to be its willingness to take on creator owned projects, where it doesn't have all the rights to the character, but can get better stories.

Vertigo is most famous for The Sandman, a series by Neil Gaiman. However, it's continuing to produce some excellent work in the form of Preacher by Garth Ennis, Transmetropolitan by Warren Ellis, and the totally insane The Invisibles by Grant Morrison.

Also did some great work with Doom Patrol and The Books of Magic.
