A California Highway Patrol police officer who was killed in the line of duty on June 3, 2002 around 7 a.m. when his patrol car hit a tree near Watsonville, California on the Highway 129 off-ramp. The cause of the accident is unknown.
Pedro was 36 years old at the time of his death and was the 196th CHP officer killed in the line of duty since the department was founded. Pedro is survived by his wife of nine years, CHP officer Colleen Gilmartin, and 2-year-old daughter.
