My evening walk has been interrupted
by a stranger with an enigma in his eyes.
He’s caught my breath,
And he holds it ransom.

We haven’t exchanged many words
outside of the polite, but still I find
I have to re-align myselfafter he goes by.

His short presence has a residual effect.
Leaving thoughts that hold no reality
swimming around in my head.

I do not like riddles
and I need to breathe
my walks are for that purpose anyway,
so tonight, I’m taking the other way.
