Australia's richest man and media mogul. He owns Channel 9, the leading television station in Australia, as well as Australian Consolidated Press, which publishes approximately 90 per cent of local magazines. Also owns several regional newspapers, but frequently finds himself at loggerheads with the other "Australian" media mogul Rupert Murdoch.

Enjoys polo. Is training up his son James Packer to take over. Is about due to die, but somehow manages to live on.

He's also not afraid to use his television stations for his own purposes. During the premiere screening of Australia's Naughtiest Home Videos in 1997, host by Doug Mulray, he apparently called Channel 9 and told them "get that crap off the air." During a takeover bid of Fairfax, he arranged for him to be interviewed on Channel 9's A Current Affair. He later also arranged for his son, James Packer to be interviewed on same for other business-related purposes.
