A small town in Wisconsin. The name comes from La Pointe du San Esprit, Voyager French for The Place of the Holy Spirit.

The town is the only settlement on the Apostle Islands, and is on Madeline Island in Lake Superior. It is connected by ferry to Bayfield.

The town was founded by fur-trappers under the Kingdom of France. France lost the land to England/Britain/United Kingdom, which then gave it to the young United States of America after the American Revolution.
