Riverside Community College, founded in 1917, consists of one main campus and three
satellite campuses. The total population of all three schools is around 33,000 students, 27% of which are
smokers.
The community college newspaper received 22 state-wide awards for
journalism last year, and at least one of the former writers went on to write for the
New York Times and the
Washington Post.
Each year, the population of the school goes up by between 900 and 1,200 students.
Tuition is 11 dollars per unit.
Althought there are about 33,000 students and 20,000 cars on campus, there are only 16,000 parking spaces, 1% of which are reserved for staff members. In other words, everybody who drives to school hates having to do so.
Smoking To Be Banned On Community College Campuses, including RCC, which will probably set a
precedent for other Community Colleges in and around California.
