Hal Foster (1892-1981) created the first adventure comic strip when he adapted Tarzan of the Apes by Edger Rice Burroughs as a daily strip. Buck Rogers began on the same day as Tarzan. Hal Foster later drew the Sunday Tarzan strip for many years. He also drew the comic strips A Christmas Story, The Song of Bernadette, and The Medieval Castle. His greatest creation, the greatest adventure strip of all time, was Prince Valiant.
