At its core,
Nitto 1320 is
drag racing computer
game/
simulator. However, it has the following rather interesting features:
- It is free (as in beer but not as in speech), having been developed by the Nitto Tire Company to promote their brand.
- It is a massively multiplayer online game: Each person gets a login and can race against other people online; your car's hop ups and specs are stored on the server.
- The hop ups and cars available are real and fairly accurately depicted.
- It's pretty high quality.
- It's written in Flash.
It is certainly an interesting experiment in Web-based promotion -- and one of the few free non-Beta MMOGs. It seems to have attacted something of a following amongst teenage boys.
The interface is definitely on the clunky side.
