A nice little
Italian wine (
technically speaking a
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC)from the
vineyards of
Elio Monti. I had this one at a restaurant last night...it's always nice to see lesser-known
wines on a by-the-glass
winelist. You just get so sick of seeing the same
Cabernet Sauvignon/
Merlot choices all the
freakin' time.
Anyway, this was a nice, light, round wine that went very well with the fettucine alfredo I ordered (yes, a red wine with a cream sauce--that's just my way). The wine presented a nice aroma with a tinge of black pepper. As with most Montepulcianos, the wine had moderate tannins and low acidity, so it was easy to drink and offered a nice finish. I think you can get this at about $10-12 a bottle retail. A solid wine, and a good buy (if you don't buy by the glass!).
