Oh my beautiful Atlas
Shouldering the world
Always so stoic and strong

I can not take
The burdens you carry away
Nor would you allow a rescue

Sometimes, though, when all
Is extra heavy

You let me
Share the weight
Baring witness to
Rare vulnerability
Escaping in quiet tears

You let me hold you up
While you let go for
Just a brief, stolen moment
Of our complicated, mundane lives

talk to me

I whisper
You just shrug

I hold you closer
Holding space with you
Hoping the moment allows you
Some release
A few steps
Closer to letting it go
