Neil Simon’s second
Broadway hit, Barefoot in the Park features the
comic adventures of a
newly married couple (Paul and Corie) in the
Big Apple. As their
honeymoon comes to a close, they discover that their 6th floor walkup has no furniture and a skylight with a hole in it. Not to mention an upstairs neighbor (Victor Velasco) who needs to use their fire escape in order to get to his apartment and a
mother-in-law (Ethel) who just doesn’t seem to approve of anything.
Barefoot in the Park first ran on Broadway in 1963 and featured a cast that included Robert Redford and Elizabeth Ashley.
Later adapted to film in 1967.
