The second of
Neil Gaiman's stories featuring
Laurence Talbot (the first being the famous
Only the End of the World Again), published in the
Smoke and Mirrors anthology.
The story takes the form of a Narrative poem, in which a gang leader and nightclub owner in 2020's LA hires Talbot to "adjust" the thing that is killing his customers. In his introduction, Gaiman describes it as "Beowulf retold as a futuristic episode of Baywatch for inclusion in an anthology of detective stories"
