I've always believed in locking doors
and I won't change my mind
but I'm slowly coming to understand the point of view
of those who live unlocked
we all need humbling every now and then
but sometimes it can be too much
and we're cut down to a size too small
if someone made a mistake
if someone lost a part of their family
if someone said things unforgivable
and the lessons to be learned
aren't necessarily revealed in the moment
but in reflection, well after the damage is done
we carry what we choose to carry
we release what we choose to release
and
yes, sometimes we come back stronger than we were before
and sometimes we don't
