You may of heard your
English teacher mention to write a "blind essay." It's part of the
lingo that
english majors use.
See, a lot of writers-turned-literary-critics will cringe when you use the word I too much. Frequent use of it when not in a position paper (and even then in moderation) makes the entire written object sound sophmoric, and of lower diction. Most experts say that when writing an admissions essay, avoid using "I" too much, it could cost you between an acceptance and rejection letter to college. So if a teacher wants you to write a 'Blind' Essay, it's an essay where you refrain from using 'I' too many times. 'I' sounds like 'Eye', get it?
Of course the term was coined by somebody witty and probably spent a lot of time grading essays.
