Guitarist and singer, Bo Diddley was born Otha Ellas Bates in 1928 in McComb, Mississippi [and died in Archer, Florida on June 2, 2008 -editor's note]. He worked the blues clubs in Chicago for a number of years, and was influenced by the great blues men of the day such as John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters. He is famous for self referential songs, and is the only performer I know who made a hit out of a self-titled single, called Bo Diddley, obviously. Bo is famous for playing a square ax, as well as for the Bo Diddley beat.
