An
expression, probably derived from
gambling, it denotes the skills, ability,
intelligence, etc. that one person brings to an
enterprise, be it an
athletic team, a business, a relationship, etc.
If you bring " a lot" this is considered impressive and you are valued, as are those who invited you.
If you bring redundant skills and sub-par intelligence, the judgement of those who invited you is questioned and many will suggest that you excuse yourself.
