"
Painful to live in fear, isn't it?"
The very epitome of a character actor: tall, evil, clumsy, tough, suave, boorish, meek, crafty, and masterful. The brightest part of any bad movie, and there are a lot of them. His filmography in both TV and cinema is huge; I won't attempt to list it all here. Even if you don't know his name, you've seen this guy many times. Some noteables to help you place him (he's big and aryan):
Half of the memorable lines in
Blade Runner are his. "
Wake up! Time to DIE!" he yells while slamming
Harrison Ford to the ground. In the interview at the open of the movie: "
My mother? Let me tell you about my mother." As
Leon, he and fellow
replicant Roy Batty (
Rutger Hauer) showed us murderous machines that were more human than those they terrorised.
I was saddened to learn in my research for this writeup that Brion James died last year of a heart attack. His passing should have been recognised, and his talent and contribution to our culture celebrated.
