City Confidential is named after a series of guides from ... um, decades ago, that told about the unsavory sides of various cities: where prominent gangsters lived, where infamous murders occurred, etc. It's a fun show, I must admit, but the script-writing is a bit repetitive. The same adjectives get applied to 9 out of 10 cities, it seems: sleepy, tranquil, close-knit, etc. The people behind the show particularly delight in showing the nasty undersides of upper class communities. Quite formulaic, but still somehow entertaining.
