Despite its discovery in Connecticut, most danburite now comes from Myanmar, Japan, Mexico, and Madagascar. The crystals are usually colorless, sometimes pale pink or yellow. It is brilliant enough to be mistaken for a white sapphire or even a diamond, and is sometimes also put in a setting with a colored foil backing to make it look like other gemstones. (Nothing wrong with that as long as the buyer knows it's really a danburite.)
