Baureihe (Class) 112 is a medium regional electric locomotive derived from the 114, which in turn is an upgraded 143. The 112 class was the last series based on this GDR-heritage loco design, built from 1992 through 1994.
The differences between the 114 and the 112 are marginal; essentially, the 112 was delivered with much better auxiliary equipment, such as halogen headlights, LZB, electro-pneumatic brakes, better control systems for push-pull trains etc. making it an up-to-date, RE160-capable loco. All 112s are in service with Deutsche Bahn's DB Regio.
