ECS

The "Enhanced Chip Set" was the second-generation graphics chipset for the Amiga computers released after 1989. It can be found on the Amiga 600, Amiga 3000, and some 500's and 2000's. It offered greater screen resolution than OCS, as well as some other graphical special effects, but it was soon replaced in 1992 by AGA.

The IBM PC Extended Character Set, the character set used by MS-DOS. One of many platform-specific extensions of ASCII from the days before the ISO 8859 standards. Not only does ECS contain accented characters in the range 128-255, it also fills in the range 1-31, which ASCII uses for control codes, with seldom-used glyphs such as the happy face and the double exclamation point.
