Instructions

  1. Put nuts into bottom of square pan.
  2. Turn stove to top heat. In heavy skillet put water, sugar, butter. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon until it is the color of peanut brittle. If you do not stir constantly, it will scorch. The timing is very important, all at once it will go from not done (carmalized) to done, and then very quickly to over-done. Pay attention!
  3. Remove from heat immediately and pour over nuts. It will get hard as it cools, so you must have the pan of nuts ready.
  4. Cool 5 minutes and sprinkle with chocolate chips. The chocolate will melt, then use the back of a spoon to spread the chocolate over the top.
  5. Enjoy, particularly at Christmas time.
