Born August 13, 1918
British born biochemist, he won two Nobel Prizes in chemistry. He was only the second person ever to win two in the same field, John Bardeen being the first (Physics), and the first (so far the only) to win two in Chemistry. He won his Nobel Prizes in 1958, for discovering the amino acid sequence of insulin, and in 1980, with Walter Gilbert, for inventing the orignal method of rapid DNA sequencing. He is still alive today, doing research at Cambridge University, and is reputedly working on getting a 3rd Nobel in Chemistry.
