All major credit card companies have a system for shopkeepers to quickly identifying your credit limit. The system divides the cards into 'classic / standard', 'gold' and 'platinum'. Although this system is on it's way out because of electronic verifying of credit, some of its prestige is still around. Or so people think. In general, gold cards require an income of 10 000 USD a year, while a platinum card is 25 000 USD a year. This is far from the days where a gold card meant Yuppie. A gold card means that your minimum credit worth is 2 000 USD. On a platinum card, the minimum limit is 5 000 USD.
