HAM8 is an evolution of the HAM6 (Hold And Modify) graphics mode which came about with the introduction of the AGA chipset on the Amiga computers. HAM8 can be used in any resolution, and can display 262,144 colors from a palette of 16,777,216 colors. HAM8 is the slowest graphics mode on AGA machines, yet produces images indistinguishable from 24-bit pictures.
