Harold Bluetooth was one of the first kings of Denmark. His Danish nickname was Blaatand. He was the son of Gorm the Old, a king in north Jutland. Harald ruled from 940 to 985 or 986.

He married Cyrid and they had two sons, Eric and Svend, and three daughters, of whom Gunhild and Thyra are known by name. Eric became king of York, and Svend did better, becoming king of England in 1013, though he died the following year. He is better known to the English as Sweyn Forkbeard, and his son was Canute the Great.
