First appeared in Douglas Hofstadters book "Godel, Escher, Bach" when he noticed how difficult it is to estimate accurately the time needed to complete a computer program. Especially clever if you consider that one of Hofstader's obsessions was recursion.

It has recently been re-worked as Norman's Law
