Verse II
Oh Walt Whitman,
I sing for you, will you sing for me?
Your words I read twice over and
highlight in blue and orange and red and
yellow the pages of my books
tear asunder from over use
and I marvel at the words that flowed through you
and through others like Homer and Krishna and Burroughs and Joyce,
your words flow in streams
that taste sweet of god
and of god-consciousness.
