Inductance is the property of a circuit to store energy in the form of an electromagnetic field. When a piece of wire is wound into a coil, it produces a property of opposing any change in current. The standard measurement for inductance is the Henry, and consequently fractions thereof like milli-henries and micro-henries.

In*duc"tance (?), n. (Elec.)

Capacity for induction; the coefficient of self- induction.

⇒ The unit of inductance is the henry.
