A song is on repeat,
On someone else’s stereo.

It makes its company tangible
asking nothing of me,

although it pulls me in,
to a daydream of events
hidden behind an opaque glass wall
and conjures emotion I cannot begin to utter.

In its alluring innocence
this song trespasses on my quiet time
eliciting memories I can’t admit
to having held on to – for so long.

A second ago a song was on repeat
on someone else's stereo.

I try to still myself in its aftermath,
feeling the jet lag of time travel.
