Jason Hutchens is a Ph.D. from University of Western Australia in Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence (Hutchens 1999). He is interested in stochastic language acquisition models.

He designed and implemented computer programs that can learn language from bottom up (The Child Machine). He has authored many "conversation simulators", some of which (e.g. MegaHAL) have been entered in the Loebner Contest. He also worked on artificial intelligence aspects of computer games (if you know which, /msg me), and on server-side e-commerce natural language solutions.

At the time of writing this writeup, he works at Artificial Intelligence Enterprises, which develops The Child Machine, a conversation simulator which is at 18 month old baby level of talk.
