Guitar produced by Fender, noted for its slightly odd shape and numerous slide style switches on the body. As the name suggests the guitar was produced with jazz players in mind and it did gain some acceptance in the jazz community. But the guitar didn't generate a lot of interest until the "pawn shop revival" of early the 90's guitar scene. Grunge players like Kurt Cobain, who said that he loved both the cheap retro look of the guitar and its nasally tone, loved the Jazzmaster and its cheaper cousin the Mustang. Both were stalwarts in any guitar slingers grunge arsenal.
