Danish architect probably most famous (internationally at least) for designing the Sydney Opera House in Australia. He was awarded this building after entering an international competition to design it in 1956/1957.

His other works include such things as two housing complexes north of Copenhagen, a parliament building in Kuwait, and Bagsværd Church (near Copenhagen).

He has a daughter named Lin.

He was born on April 10, 1918. Everything2 editor's note: Mr Utzon died on November 29, 2008.
