A Biblical city in the southern part of Judea, as mentioned in Joshua 15, verse 25. It is sometimes referred to as Kerioth-hezron, and is seen as perhaps the equivalent of a suburb of Hazor. Today it is believed that the ruins of el-Kureitein 10 miles south of Hebron include parts of this city.

It is also the birthplace of the traitor Judas - hence the surname Iscariot (a Greek translation of the Jewish "Ish Kerioth", or "from Kerioth.")

This city is sometimes conflated or contrasted with Kirioth, a city referenced in Jeremiah as being in the Moab region, but there is no evidence that Jeremiah's city actually existed, or if it served as a metaphor for modern cities or other cities existing during Jeremiah's time.
