In Terry Prachett's discworld, a magic sword of black metal owned by Hrun the Barbarian. Like everything else in the series, it's basically a huge lump of satire directed at other magic swords in the fantasy genre, like Stormbringer. Kring talks like C3P0, though probably with a more masculine flavor. He has plenty of stories to tell about the time when he was owned by this person or that, or when he was at the bottom of a lake for a very long time, and has the remarkable ability to continue talking long after his audience has ceased to listen or respond.(Very much like one of my ex-girlfriends) As a magic sword should, Kring gives off many sparks and special effects when it strikes something.
