A typical North-German coastal dish, also well-known to any German sailor is Labskaus.

You'll need :

  1. 1kg of potatoes
  2. 500g of brine-conserved beef (or corned beef, if you must)
  3. 500g of beetroot
  4. 4 eggs
  5. salt
  6. pepper
  7. pickled herrings

Water the beef (not encessary if you use corned beef) and cook it, then mince the meat.
Peel and cook the potatoes and red beets.
Mix the potatoes, the beets and the meat into a pinkish paste, flavour with salt and pepper.

Add a pickled fish, one fried egg and slices of pickled beet to every plate.
