Italian politician. Born 1857, died 1920.
In 1892, Bissolati helped found the Italian Socialist Party, the PSI. From 1902/1903, he became one of the leaders of the reform wing of the party. Due to his expressed support of Italy's conquest of Libya, he was excluded from the PSI in 1912.
During World War I, Bissolati served as a volunteer, and he was gravely injured in 1916. Later that same year, he became a government minister, but he resigned this office in 1918, because he felt that Italy's territorial demands were unreasonable.
