Linnaean

The Linnaean naming system is not just all about botany. Animals' scientific names are also called Linnaean names, and old Linnaeus himself made up a number of them.

For example, the barred owl's scientific name, in its frumpiest form, is Strix varia Barton, because Barton gave it that name. Many of Linnaeus's names are still in use, so many that an L is all that's required after a Latin name to say, "Hey, props to the old guy."
