A brand-name prescription antibiotic. The generic name is "Loracarbef."

According to the packaging, it's a "synthetic B(beta)-lactam antibiotic of the carbacephem class of oral administration." In English, it means it's an antibiotic you take through your mouth.

It comes in 2 forms, capsule or liquid. The capsule comes in 200mg and 400mg form, and usually taken b.i.d(twice a day). The liquid form comes in 400mg form(for adult) and 7.5mg/kg and 15mg/kg for pediatric.

Doctors and pediatricians use it, because it's used mostly for respiratory tract infections, only of the bacterial kind, meaning it's useless against viruses. Great for Staph and Strep infections, usually when you have a sore throat. Oh, and for ear infections, such as Otitis Media. It's a suprisingly common pediatric drug.

You should take it either at least 1 hour prior to eating or at least 2 hours after eating, so it gets absorbed better. Side effects may include diarrhea, stomach pain, or nausea, but there is a 5% chance of either. Pretty safe stuff, I've taken it many times in my childhood.

It's made by Eli Lilly and company.
