Stands for "Mapping of Airline Reservation, Ticketing, and Messaging Traffic over IP", as specified in RFC 2351. Essentially a mechanism for encapsulating P1024B and P1024C (called "Type A" traffic), as well as messaging (Type B) in TCP/IP.
