Multicast Open Shortest Path First is a multicast-aware extension to the popular unicast OSPF routing protocol, and requires that OSPF also be used. It informs the routers which subnets are listening to which multicast streams, and allows the routers to decide which network interfaces to output the multicast data on. It's behavior is otherwise identical to OSPF.
