the lawsuit brought by the mpaa against 2600 magazine after 2600 made decss available from their website. decss breaks the encryption on dvd movies, allowing users to, among other things, play dvds on linux machines. this pissed off a bunch of rich people in hollywood who were intent on controlling the flow of information and so they banded together to fight the great geek menace in the courtroom.
